Personal Information
I'm a Southern Illinois native, having grown up on a small farm in northeast Williamson County.  I graduated from Johnston City High School in 1991 and greatly benefitted from being a student at a small, rural school.  I went to the University of Illinois, finished my coursework in three years, and student taught during the Fall, 1994, semester at Elk Grove Village High School in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.  After completing my teaching degree, I returned to Southern Illinois and taught mathematics at Du Quoin High School for five years before becoming a school principal and, later, a district superintendent.

In 2001, I married Kerri Dover of Harrisburg, IL, and we made our home in Marion, IL, until 2004, at which time we built a house and returned to the family farm to work alongside my parents (both of whom are retired teachers) in our small beef cattle operation.  We enjoy spending time with our family, working on the farm, doing yard work, and training our Australian Cattle Dog, Max.  I'm usually involved in some type of home improvement project, and Kerri enjoys working out when time permits.  We are members of our local church, and actively serve area ministries through playing piano/keyboards in worship groups, singing, and helping with children and multi-media.  In March, 2016, we welcomed our son, Jack, into our family, and he has quickly become a part of the SV196 family, too.  We feel so privileged to raise him up in the SV196 family!

I consider it my privilege to serve the school district, and work alongside some of the finest people I've ever met.  As the school district's leader, I value family, relationships and excellence, and my work teammates keenly know how important modeling good character and values is for children's development.  I am committed to making the school district the best that it can possibly be, and believe we are continually improving to achieve that goal.
